Wasp prodders history & Quality Assurance
November 2010
Great to get good feedback on the WASP Ultra model. Excellent results with all versions (Ramp up, full power and also time out and no time out). 2011 is looking to be a good year.
October 2010
We have now been through a number of production runs.
We are very pleased with the reliability and consistency for the assembled product. We only had a failure rate of 0.3% on our production and this was due to human error. Great result!
September 2010
A reference we recieved. (One of many)
Hi Per,
Just some feedback for
you….
Used the prodder
yarding 2yr old steers this morning, and happy to say very pleased with
the product. Cattle very responsive, despite rough weather conditions!
Father in law is also very impressed with the product construction and
usage. Its great to be able to move the bigger cattle once around the
yards instead of persistent coercion!

June 2010:
We have introduced the WASP Ultra model. This replaces the Wasp Pro-Max.
The ULTRA has a new revised module with substantially increased
reliability.
The module is longer. There is an extension piece that screws onto the
end of the standard body. This increases the strength where the wand
mounts onto the main body.
Wasp prodders have been produced for many years.
Development and sales started in South Africa during the 1980,s.
It was relocated to New Zealand in the 1990,s
In the development phase, surveys were done among many uses of cattle
prodders. A common cause for failure of other makes was that the WANDS
were breaking. Wands broke in the middle, on the tips but mostly where
it was mounted on the prodder itself.
When designing our WASP brand Standard size WASP prodder extra attention
was given to make the wand almost indestructible.
We believe we have achieved this.
Less that 0.1% of all prodders that we have manufactured have had wands
damaged in the field.
Cattle and stock prodder live through a very harsh life.
We have received prodders for repair that have been abused.
Some of the caused for malfunction have been the following:
Dropped off the top of a freight truck 2 floors down onto hard concrete.
Driven over by tractors.
Submerged in cattle dip overnight.
Trodden on by 2 ton Bull.
Used as a bone by a dog.
Most times our prodders have survived this type of abuse.
In striving for excellence, we are constantly improving our product
and manufacturing procedures. Over the years we have successfully
reduced the failure rate for whatever reason to well below 1%
We are fastidious about our quality control. Every prodder produced must
pass 5 inspection points before dispatch.
