Wasp prodders

We produce a robust range of output power levels using our robust housing.

As standard we produce a prodder that has full power from the time of pressing the button.

A different model uses progressive power technology.
This is different to other makes of prodders. Protected by provisional patent number 560460

NOTE: At time of manufacture the units are pre-programmed with any of the following operating modes.

STANDARD	Full power from time of pressing the button.
OPTION	Ramp up power from 20% to 100% over 2 second period from pressing the button.
OPTION	Time out after 2 seconds after pressing the button. Then button needs to be let go for 2 seconds before it can work again.

As standard we supply this product as A FULL POWER with no time out. Variations in setting has to be specified at time of order.

Benefits OF ramp system:
When ramping power is used, the animal decides when to move.
This reduces stress to the animals and the operators of cattle prods.

Battery life:
We use a high efficiency switched mode inverter. This produces an effective shock yet conserves energy for long battery life. Average current draw = 450mA. Using good quality alkaline batteries the batteries should last about 18 days continuous. This is based on working a full 8 hour day with a duty cycle of 3 seconds on and 20 seconds off.
If used less, say 2 hours per day batteries should last over 2 months.

Notes.

The electronic module is a capacitor discharge system.
There is a memory effect. The probes may remain charged for some seconds after use.

Instructions:

• Use ONLY on animals and not Humans.
• Recommend the use of alkaline batteries size “D” (4 required) Normal heavy duty batteries will also work but will last shorter time. See above
• The Wand must be fully screwed on. (See instructions on back)
• When shorted out, and the button is pressed a sparking will be heard inside the unit. This is wet animal circuit operating. This is normal.
• Do not submerge in any liquid.
• Make sure the back cap is screwed on tight.
• To achieve less stressed animals, apply probe to animal BEFORE pressing button. After probes have made contact, press and hold button. Animal will move at its discomfort level. (Progressive model only)

Product Feature note:
The electronic module provided a captive discharge system at high voltage. There is a memory effect in that the probes remain charged for some time after use.
